MEDA Project Highlight
Equitable prosperity through private sector development (EPTPSD) / Maendeleo-Sawa (M-SAWA)
Project Location: Kenya
Project Length: 2015-2022
Reaching: 20,000 female and male entrepreneurs; 250 Small and Medium Enterprises/Lead Firms
This year, we would like to highlight MEDA's M-SAWA project in Kenya, East Africa. This project is focused on supporting economic growth in Kenya through working with small entrepreneurs and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the agriculture, construction, and extractives sectors. MEDA and its partners will employ a lead firm approach, targeting SMEs which have the potential to impact a large number of smallholder farmers, small entrepreneurs and other SMEs in their supply chains. The project will also encourage businesses to use more environmentally-friendly technologies and practices and to pay particular attention to supporting women-led businesses and improved gender practices.
